The Citywide Perioperative Management Conference will be held in the afternoon of 5/30 at UH.  This is for PGY2 categoricals and PGY3 Med/Peds residents.  Coverage is provided, and attendance is mandatory (unless you are on vacation--then it's optional).  PGY3 residents will provide the coverage.  Please read carefully below.  The facility specific coverage is followed by individual instructions.  PGY3s please make sure you know what your role is.  Every single person on elective or ambulatory (except Baliga and Bidari who will be on KBA-approved away electives) has been utilized.  Let me know if I've missed coverage for anyone--my scheduling-specific neurons are seizing...

1. MICU--all the seniors are second years...aarrgh.  Interns obviously work all day.  Everyone comes to round and get work done (I know this should be someone's day off, but the team should arrange an alternate day off for that person.)  Kim Tran will come and round with the team and then hold down the fort with the interns between noon and 4:30 while the PGY2s are at the conference. 

2. MICU Part B--Steph Norfolk will come in at 11P on 5/29 so the on-call PGY2 can go home and sleep and return @0700 for rounds.

3. CICU Part A--Darshana will come in at 11P on 5/29 so the on-call PGY2 can go home...as above

4. CICU Part B--Salman will round with the CICU team and hold down the fort from noon to 4:30.  The CICU team should arrange an alternate day off for Chris Allen so he can come to work on Friday and help out as well.

5. Doug Laux will come to UH @11:30 and get signout from the Carpenter and Eckel seniors and will cover the interns on both of these admitting teams until 4:30.

6. John Jakob will cover the admitting Cherniack intern in addition to his own team.

7. Alicia Nero will cover the admitting Naff intern in addition to her own team.

8. The UH nightfloat plan for the 29th: Wajeeh stays over--sleeps until noon, then goes to conference followed by Fri PM off.  If it is not extremely busy, the NACR (Larry) should send him home earlier--ideally he would staff the teams and go home.  Tim will cover Lanla's NF shift on Thursday night.  He can stay later than Wajeeh because his VA shift the following night is being covered by a PGY3--maybe we can find some JavaJive bucks for Tim so he can stay awake at conference.  Seniors on-call 5/29 should try to staff as many as possible before they leave the hospital that evening.

1.  VACardiology/VAMICUNF: Ben Gartrell will arrive @11P so Southern on VA Cards can sign out around 11P, get some sleep and return for rounds, followed by conference.  Ben, if the VAMICU is quiet, it would be nice if you took Dumford's VAMICU NF signout at some point so he can go home a sleep awhile before getting up for conference--he'll be at the end of a VAMICU NF stint...Vijay will hold down the fort in  VACards during the day 5/30 with backup by the VACR (Ninad) in the role of "Special Helper"/VAMICU intern-sitter.  The VA Cardiology team should work out an alternate day off for the Friday day-off person so he/she can go to the conference AND help out with the work in the am.

2. VA MICU--Ninad (the VACR) will hold down the fort in the VAMICU between noon and 4:30 while Hartman goes to the conference.  Colin Mooney will take overnight call with the VAMICU intern on 5/30.  He will arrive at 8P and stay until 1P on 5/31.

3. VA Wards--Bindu is the only PGY2 senior.  Chiraag, Amelia and Derek will determine who will supervise her on-call team.  Guys, try to staff her intern's admissions while she's gone, so she doesn't come back to a mess. 

4. 5/30 VA NF--Yogen will cover Pravin's Friday VANF shift so he can crash s/p his Thurs NF shift followed by conference.  May need JavaJive as well...

Nada--MICU--come to work @0700--round and do as much work as you can until conference

Ryan Anthony--Carpenter on-call--Doug will cover your team while you're in conference

Shariff--elective, no coverage required

Becky--elective

Joumana--CICU on call--Salman/Chris Allen will hold down the fort while you're gone

Brad--ambulatory

Dumford--you'll be post-VAMICU NF--your last one before time off.  I've asked Ben to take your signout at some point--maybe MN or 0100 if safe from a patient care/hospital busy-ness perspective--so you can get some sleep.

Tim Fernandes--you'll be post UH NF, but you won't be doing the VAMICU night shift following the conference

Herb--VAMICU resident--sign out to Ninad for conference the return for remainder of shift

Huml--Geri, afternoon free

Maissa--you'll be post-call in CICU, but not really post call because Darshana will take your signout at 11P on 5/29 and act as the CICU nightfloat.  You should return to the CICU at 0700 and work until conference starts at noon.

Leena--on elective, no worries

Jones--ER knows you can't be there during the conference
