Bronson's Day is May 15th, 2008.

In the 1950's.........there was an Internist who admitted his patients to UH by the name of Bronson; he got the idea of taking all the Medicine interns to the Cleveland Indians home opener. He would pay for the whole thing and buy many rounds of beer. The home opener used to be a big deal; the Indians played in the old stadium that held 70,000, and on opening day 68,000 people would show up and 64,000 would become intoxicated (to some degree).

So starting in the 1950's all the interns got the day off to go to the Indians home opener- and later this became known as Bronson day. The residents covered for the interns, including overnight, and there were always stories of ............interesting behavior associated with Bronson day.

In the late 1990s the Indians moved to a smaller stadium and began winning- and it became impossible to get 60 tickets in a block to the home opener. We started doing something different on Bronson day, and have settled into going to an Indians day game in May. Residents cover for interns, etc.
